Description
API 6A Gate Valve Spare Parts & MRO Repair Kits for Wellheads and Christmas Trees
SGPE supplies API 6A Gate Valve Spare Parts for the repair, refurbishment and lifecycle maintenance of wellhead, Christmas tree and surface pressure-control valves.
The product range covers gates, seat rings, valve stems, body bushings, retainer plates, gate guides, packing, bonnet seals, bearings, manual operator parts, service fittings and hydraulic actuator components. Clients may order an individual replacement part, a matched internal trim set or a complete valve overhaul package.
For field developments and long-term maintenance programs, the supply can also include wellhead valve MRO spares, commissioning packages, operating spares, planned-shutdown kits and capital spare packages. These solutions support oilfield operators, wellhead service companies, valve repair workshops, petroleum equipment distributors and offshore maintenance teams.
Replacement components can support parent valves with nominal bore sizes from 1-13/16 inches to 7-1/16 inches and rated working pressures from 2,000 psi to 20,000 psi. The original valve design, critical dimensions, material requirements and operating conditions determine the final configuration.
A matching bore and pressure class do not prove interchangeability. Two valves may use different gate profiles, seat dimensions, stem threads, bonnet seals, body pockets or operator interfaces. Before confirming a replacement, the technical review checks the valve nameplate, model, serial number, original part number, drawings, photographs and available measurements.
This page focuses on loose components, repair kits and lifecycle spare packages. Projects that require a complete new valve should use the related SGPE FC, FLS, manual, hydraulic, slab, flanged or sour-service gate valve pages.
Spare Parts for Wellhead and Christmas Tree Valves
API 6A gate valves provide pressure isolation at several positions across a wellhead, Christmas tree or surface pressure-control system.
Replacement parts may support lower and upper master valves, production and kill wing valves, swab valves, annulus valves and tree outlet valves. They are also used on selected surface safety valves, surface test trees, flowheads, injection wellheads and valves installed on production, well test or flowback manifolds.
The spare-parts program covers four main areas:
- Gate, seat and supporting internal trim
- Stem, packing and bonnet sealing components
- Manual operator and gearbox parts
- Hydraulic actuator and position-indication components

Gate and Seat Replacement Sets
The gate and seats form the main pressure-isolation system inside a wellhead gate valve. They must share compatible dimensions, material combinations, hardness levels, sealing profiles and surface finishes.
Supply options include slab gates, flat gates, upstream seats, downstream seats, floating seat rings and matched gate-and-seat sets. Depending on the original construction, the internal trim may also contain body bushings, retainer plates, gate guides, gate pins, wave springs, seat seals and stem-to-gate connectors.
Abrasive or corrosive service may require hardfaced, nitrided or coated trim. The material and surface treatment must match both the parent-valve design and the actual well conditions.
A new gate may not seal against seats that show scoring, corrosion or uneven wear. New seats can also fail to match an older gate with a different contact pattern. When both mating surfaces show damage, a matched gate and seat replacement set normally provides a more reliable repair than replacing one component alone.
When Should the Gate and Seats Be Inspected?
The complete trim should be checked when a closed valve no longer holds pressure. Scratches, scoring, corrosion or uneven contact marks on the sealing faces also indicate possible damage.
Sand, proppant and scale can wear the sliding surfaces or restrict seat movement. Repeated pressure cycling may gradually change the contact pattern, while long periods without operation allow deposits and corrosion to develop around the seats.
A sudden rise in operating torque may point to gate misalignment, damaged guides, trapped debris or excessive wear. During workshop repairs, damage found on one sealing surface often extends to the mating component.
Critical Gate and Seat Identification Data
| Part | Measurements and Information Required |
| Gate | Width, thickness, overall length, port diameter and stem connection |
| Seat ring | OD, ID, thickness, sealing profile and seal arrangement |
| Body bushing | Body-pocket diameter, bore and overall dimensions |
| Retainer plate | OD, ID, thickness and hole pattern |

Stem, Packing and Bonnet Spare Parts
The stem transfers movement from the handwheel, gearbox or hydraulic actuator to the gate. The packing system controls leakage where the stem passes through the bonnet.
Replacement components can include rising and non-rising stems, stem adapters, pins, shear pins, nuts and bushings. The repair scope may also cover backseat components, stem protectors, packing glands, packing retainers, conventional packing and chevron packing sets.
Bonnet-related parts include backup rings, bonnet seal rings, body-to-bonnet seals, gaskets, studs and nuts. Grease injection fittings, packing injection fittings and check valve fittings are available for selected designs.
Similar-looking stems may use different lengths, diameters, threads or gate connections. Packing sets can also vary in cross-section, stack height and compound. These details must be verified before manufacturing begins.
Common Stem and Bonnet Repair Conditions
| Field Condition | Components to Inspect |
| External stem leakage | Stem packing, packing gland, stem surface and backup rings |
| Body-to-bonnet leakage | Bonnet seal, groove condition, bonnet bolting and sealing faces |
| Rising handwheel torque | Stem threads, bearings, packing compression and gate alignment |
| Damaged stem threads | Stem, stem nut, yoke sleeve and adapter |
| Packing extrusion | Packing compound, backup rings, groove clearance and pressure |
| Corrosion around the bonnet | Bonnet, stem, fasteners, fittings and protective coating |
External stem leakage may come from worn packing, an unsuitable compound or damage to the stem surface. Excessive packing compression can create another problem by increasing operating torque. Technicians should therefore inspect the complete stem-sealing arrangement rather than replacing the packing alone.
Body-to-bonnet leakage requires a review of the seal, groove, contact faces and bolting. If corrosion or mechanical damage affects the sealing interface, a new seal may not correct the leak.
Manual Operator and Hydraulic Actuator Parts
Manual operators convert handwheel or gearbox rotation into vertical gate movement. Their condition directly affects operating torque, travel control and local valve operation.
Replacement components may include handwheel assemblies, thrust bearings, bearing races, bearing caps, stem adapters, yokes, yoke sleeves, mechanical stops, position indicators and lubrication fittings.
An operator should be inspected when the handwheel becomes difficult to turn or movement feels rough. Bearing noise, incomplete travel, excessive backlash and lubricant loss also suggest internal wear. Early repair can prevent damage from spreading to the stem, bearings or yoke sleeve.
Hydraulic actuators provide remote operation and fail-safe shutdown functions. Typical replacement parts include cylinders, pistons, piston rods, piston seals, rod seals, wiper seals, wear rings, guide rings, O-rings, backup rings, spring assemblies and manual override components.
Position indicators, limit-switch brackets, hydraulic fittings and feedback components may also form part of the repair scope. The actuator model, cylinder bore, piston-rod diameter, stem travel, hydraulic control pressure and fail-safe direction determine the correct parts. Parent-valve size alone does not provide enough information.
Hydraulic Actuator Troubleshooting Guide
| Observed Condition | Parts or Areas to Check |
| External hydraulic leakage | Rod seal, piston-rod surface, fittings and static O-rings |
| Slow opening or closing | Piston seals, cylinder condition, hydraulic supply and wear rings |
| Incomplete valve travel | Stroke, mechanical stop, stem connection and actuator thrust |
| Failure to hold position | Piston seal, control valve, hydraulic circuit and internal leakage |
| Damaged position feedback | Indicator rod, switch bracket, limit switch and mounting interface |
| Corroded piston rod | Rod coating, wiper seal, storage protection and environmental exposure |
A damaged piston-rod surface can quickly destroy a new rod seal, so both parts should be checked during repair.
Slow actuator movement may result from internal leakage, worn guide rings or a problem in the hydraulic supply. Incomplete travel can indicate an incorrect stroke, insufficient thrust, mechanical obstruction or an unsuitable stem connection.
For complete hydraulic valve selection, actuator sizing or emergency-shutdown design, refer to the SGPE API 6A Hydraulic Gate Valve page.
API 6A Gate Valve Repair Kits
SGPE prepares valve-specific repair kits instead of selecting a generic package from bore size alone. Each kit follows the original bill of materials, an approved drawing or a verified dimensional record.
| Repair Package | Typical Contents | Typical Repair Scope |
| Soft seal kit | Packing, O-rings, backup rings, seat seals and bonnet seals | Routine sealing-system maintenance |
| Gate and seat trim kit | Gate, seats, bushings, retainers, guides and seals | Internal leakage or trim damage |
| Stem and bonnet repair kit | Stem, packing, gland, bonnet seal, bearings and bolting | External leakage and operator wear |
| Manual operator kit | Handwheel parts, bearings, cap, yoke sleeve and seals | High torque or incomplete travel |
| Hydraulic actuator rebuild kit | Piston seals, rod seals, wear rings, guide rings and fittings | Hydraulic leakage or slow operation |
| Major overhaul kit | Trim, stem, seals, bearings, fittings and operator parts | Complete workshop refurbishment |
A soft seal kit may include stem packing, O-rings, backup rings, seat seals, body-bushing seals, bonnet seals and operator seals. Hydraulic versions may also require piston seals, rod seals, wiper rings and wear rings.
A gate valve internal trim kit normally contains one gate, two seat rings and the associated seals. Depending on the original design, it may also include body bushings, retainer plates, gate guides, a gate pin, wave springs and backup rings.
A stem and bonnet kit can combine the valve stem, packing, packing gland, bonnet seal, bearings and related bolting. Hydraulic actuator rebuild kits are selected from the actuator model, cylinder bore, rod diameter, stroke, control pressure and fail-safe direction.
Final kit contents depend on the valve construction, service fluid, operating pressure, temperature, decompression conditions and original seal-groove dimensions.
Commissioning, Operating and Lifecycle Spares
Field maintenance often requires more than a standard seal or trim kit. SGPE can organize oilfield gate valve MRO spares according to the project stage, installed valve population and maintenance plan.
| Spare Package | Project Stage | Typical Contents |
| Commissioning spares | Installation, pressure testing and startup | Soft seals, packing, fittings and minor operator parts |
| Operating spares | Routine field operation | Trim sets, stem packing, bonnet seals, bearings and fittings |
| Two-year maintenance spares | Early lifecycle maintenance | High-consumption seals, trim and operator components |
| Capital spares | Long-lead failure protection | Gates, seats, stems, bonnets, operators and actuators |
| Shutdown spares | Planned wellhead or tree maintenance | Trim, seals, bearings, fittings and actuator kits |
| Emergency spares | Unplanned valve failure | Failed trim, stem-sealing or actuator components |
| Field stocking package | Multiwell or offshore inventory | Standardized spares grouped by valve model and position |
Commissioning packages support installation, pressure testing and startup. They normally focus on seals, packing, fittings, position-indicator parts and smaller operator components that may require replacement during early site work.
Operating and two-year maintenance packages support routine service after startup. Parts can be grouped by valve model, well number, installation position or expected replacement frequency. For multiwell projects, separating master-valve, wing-valve, swab-valve and hydraulic-shutdown-valve spares simplifies warehouse control and reduces identification errors.
Capital spares cover high-value or long-lead components whose failure could extend downtime. A wellhead valve shutdown spare kit supports planned Christmas tree, production-wellhead or manifold maintenance and can follow the shutdown scope, installed valve population and required documentation.
Offshore operators often maintain larger inventories because transportation, access and maintenance windows remain limited. Common requirements include master-valve parts, wing-valve trim sets, swab-valve seals, hydraulic shutdown-valve components, actuator kits and emergency gate-and-seat sets.

| 5-1/8″ | 130.2 mm |
| 7-1/16″ | 179.4 mm |
These values describe the nominal bore and rated working pressure of the parent valve. They do not give each loose replacement component an independent pressure rating. The original drawing and verified minimum bore remain the controlling references.
Parent-Valve Specification Review
Material class, PSL and design-validation requirements apply to the complete parent valve or qualified equipment scope. They do not automatically become independent classifications for a loose replacement component.
The technical review may consider the API 6A edition used for the original valve, parent-valve material class, applicable PSL, temperature class and original design requirements.
Inspection scope, material traceability, operating environment and the original hardfacing or coating specification may also affect the replacement design.
Each component is matched to the dimensions, materials and service conditions of the parent valve rather than being assigned complete-valve classifications of its own.
Materials, Seals and Surface Protection
| Component Group | Common Material Options | Main Selection Factors |
| Gates and seats | 410 stainless steel, 17-4 PH, alloy steel with hardfacing and nickel-alloy options | Wear, corrosion, hardness and service fluid |
| Valve stems | Stainless steel, 17-4 PH, nickel alloy and treated alloy steel | Torque, tensile load, temperature and corrosion |
| Bushings and retainers | Alloy steel, stainless steel and project-specific CRA | Strength, dimensional stability and corrosion |
| Manual operator parts | Carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless steel | Load, wear and environmental exposure |
| Hydraulic actuator parts | Alloy steel, stainless steel and coated materials | Hydraulic pressure, fatigue and corrosion |
| Soft seals | NBR, HNBR, FKM, PTFE, modified PTFE and PEEK | Fluid, pressure, temperature and decompression |
The approved drawing, original equipment specification and operating environment control the final material selection.
A single valve size may require different seal compounds in different applications. Crude-oil production, dry gas, wet gas, produced water, water injection and gas injection expose seals to different chemicals and decompression conditions. Hydraulic actuator seals must match the control fluid and cycling frequency rather than the well fluid.
Sour and HPHT applications require additional review of temperature, extrusion resistance, gas decompression and chemical compatibility. The final compound should match the original groove dimensions and actual service data.
Hardfacing and Surface Treatment
| Treatment | Typical Parts | Main Purpose |
| Gas or salt-bath nitriding | Gate, stem and operator parts | Improves surface hardness and sliding-wear resistance |
| QPQ treatment | Selected gate, seat and steel parts | Improves wear and corrosion resistance |
| HVOF tungsten carbide | Gate and seat sealing surfaces | Resists sand, proppant and abrasive flow |
| Nickel-based hardfacing | Gate and seat contact areas | Adds wear and corrosion protection |
| Cobalt-based hardfacing | Severe-wear trim components | Reduces galling and contact wear |
| Electroless nickel plating | Operator and internal components | Provides a uniform protective coating |
| Phosphate coating | Carbon and alloy steel parts | Supports storage protection and lubricant retention |
| CRA overlay | Selected wetted surfaces | Supports corrosive and defined sour environments |
The manufacturing specification should identify the treatment type, thickness, hardness and finished dimensions. Coating and final machining must remain coordinated because surface treatment changes the completed dimensions.
Replacement valve bodies, bonnets and other major pressure-containing components require a separate engineering review, full traceability and an agreed testing scope.
Sour-Service Wellhead Valve Spare Parts
A general request for “H₂S service” does not provide enough information for material selection.
The technical review may include H₂S partial pressure, total operating pressure, temperature, CO₂ content, fluid pH, chloride level and produced-water chemistry.
Material hardness, heat treatment, seal compounds and any overlay or welding requirements also need confirmation. Final selection should follow the specified NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 service conditions.
Providing actual well and fluid data produces a more reliable result than selecting a generic sour-service material from valve size alone.
Replacement-Part Compatibility Review
Bore and working pressure cannot confirm compatibility by themselves.
The review begins with the original manufacturer, valve model, series, serial number and available part numbers. The technical team then checks the nominal bore, minimum bore and rated working pressure.
For internal parts, the comparison includes gate and seat dimensions, stem length, stem thread, body-pocket dimensions, retainer-plate dimensions and bonnet-seal profile.
Manual operator, hydraulic actuator and position-indication interfaces also require verification. Production fluid, temperature, corrosion, abrasive solids and sour-service conditions guide the material and seal selection.
How SGPE Identifies a Replacement Part
1. Review the equipment records
The process starts with the nameplate, model, serial number, parts list and available part numbers.
2. Compare the critical interfaces
The technical team checks the gate, seats, stem, body pocket, retainers, bonnet seal and operator connection.
3. Confirm the operating conditions
Pressure, temperature, fluid composition, corrosion, abrasion and sour-service data guide the final review.
4. Agree on the supply scope
Manufacturing starts after both parties confirm the dimensions, materials, coatings, quantities and inspection requirements.
Clients can provide original drawings, dimensional sketches, clear photographs, unused samples or worn components.
References to third-party valve styles only identify the intended replacement application. SGPE operates independently and does not claim affiliation with or endorsement by any third-party manufacturer.
No original part number available? Send the nameplate, photographs, critical measurements and available equipment records for technical identification.
Obsolete and Brownfield Gate Valve Parts
Older wellheads and Christmas trees may use valve models that no longer receive regular factory support. In these cases, SGPE can review authorized drawings, field measurements and original samples.
Typical requirements include obsolete gate-and-seat assemblies, non-standard stems, old bonnet-seal profiles, discontinued operator components, custom retainer plates and legacy actuator seals.
A worn sample helps identify the basic geometry, but wear may have changed the original dimensions. The review should therefore include adjoining parts, equipment drawings and maintenance records whenever possible.
This section covers internal repair parts and replacement components. Complete brownfield valve replacement, flange interfaces and installation dimensions remain within the relevant complete-valve pages.
Brownfield Replacement Workflow
| Stage | Review Activity |
| Equipment identification | Check the nameplate, serial number and installation position |
| Part identification | Compare part numbers, drawings and photographs |
| Dimensional verification | Measure interfaces, sealing profiles, threads and travel |
| Material review | Confirm fluid, pressure, temperature and corrosion conditions |
| Replacement proposal | Submit dimensions, materials and inspection scope |
| Production release | Start manufacturing after technical confirmation |
Oilfield Applications
| Application | Typical Valve Positions | Main Maintenance Challenges |
| Production wellhead | Master, wing, swab and annulus valves | Corrosion, scale and repeated operation |
| Christmas tree | Lower master, upper master and wing valves | Long production exposure and pressure isolation |
| Surface test tree and flowhead | Master, flow, kill and shutdown valves | High pressure, cycling and frequent operation |
| Flowback system | Flowback and manifold valves | Sand, proppant and rapid pressure changes |
| Injection wellhead | Water, gas and chemical injection valves | Fluid compatibility and continuous pressure |
| Offshore wellhead | Tree and platform shutdown valves | Restricted access and long replacement lead times |
| Workover system | Tree and wellhead isolation valves | Intervention, disassembly and pressure control |
Replacement parts support production wellheads, Christmas trees, surface test trees and flowheads used during well cleanup, temporary production and extended testing. Frequent operation, pressure cycling and changes in produced fluid make accurate trim and seal selection particularly important.
Flowback valves may handle sand, proppant, fracturing fluid, crude oil, formation water and natural gas. Wear-resistant trim and compatible seals support post-fracturing cleanup, plug drill-out and sand-laden production.
Injection wellheads require materials and seals suited to the actual injection medium. Water, gas and chemical injection may use different compounds even when the valve size remains unchanged.
Offshore operators often keep larger spare inventories because transportation and maintenance windows remain limited. Replacement parts also support workover, wireline, slickline, coiled tubing, well suspension and well reactivation operations.
Quality Control and Documentation
| Inspection or Document | Main Purpose | Typical Output |
| Material verification | Confirms grade and heat identity | Material test certificate |
| Heat-treatment review | Confirms controlled thermal processing | Heat-treatment record |
| Dimensional inspection | Confirms critical fit dimensions | Dimensional report |
| Hardness testing | Confirms material or treated-surface hardness | Hardness report |
| Thread inspection | Confirms stem and operator interfaces | Thread inspection record |
| MT or PT | Checks applicable surface discontinuities | NDE report |
| UT | Checks applicable material volume | Ultrasonic test report |
| Coating inspection | Confirms coating thickness and hardness | Coating report |
| Visual and marking inspection | Confirms identification and finish | Final inspection record |
| Third-party inspection | Supports client witness requirements | Signed inspection documents |
Loose replacement parts normally receive material, dimensional, hardness and surface-treatment inspection rather than an independent complete-valve pressure test.
Complete valve assemblies and refurbishment projects can include functional and pressure testing under an agreed procedure.

Why Choose SGPE for API 6A Gate Valve Spare Parts?
The SGPE supply program focuses on component identification, repair kits, MRO planning and lifecycle stocking rather than repeating complete-valve selection content.
Experience with API 6A wellhead equipment, Christmas tree components and gate valves helps the technical team review how the trim, stem, bonnet, operator and actuator work together.
Every replacement project begins with the original valve data. This approach reduces the risk of supplying a component that matches the nominal size but not the actual equipment.
Clients can order one replacement part or a coordinated package for commissioning, routine operation, planned shutdown, offshore stocking or workshop overhaul.
Authorized drawings, dimensional records and original samples can also support replacement projects when standard components are obsolete or no longer readily available.
Depending on the agreed scope, documentation may include material certificates, heat-treatment records, dimensional reports, hardness results, NDE reports, coating records and certificates of conformity.

Frequently Asked Questions About API 6A Gate Valve Spare Parts
1. Which API 6A gate valve spare parts does SGPE supply?
SGPE supplies API 6A gate valve spare parts for manual, hydraulic and actuator-ready wellhead valves. The available range includes gates, seat rings, body bushings, retainer plates, gate guides, valve stems, stem packing, bonnet seals, bearings, manual operator parts, hydraulic actuator components, position-indication parts and service fittings.
Clients may order one replacement component, a matched gate-and-seat set, an internal trim kit or a complete valve overhaul package. These parts support maintenance work on production wellheads, Christmas trees, surface test trees, flowheads, injection wellheads and selected high-pressure manifolds.
2. Can SGPE identify a replacement part without the original part number?
Yes. When the original part number is unavailable, SGPE can review the valve nameplate, manufacturer, model, series, serial number, photographs, drawings and critical dimensions. Measurements such as the gate width, seat-ring OD and ID, stem thread, body-pocket diameter and bonnet-seal profile often provide the information needed for an initial compatibility review.
An unused sample or worn component may also help identify the replacement. However, wear, corrosion or previous machining may have changed the original dimensions, so equipment records and measurements from adjoining parts should be provided whenever possible.
3. Are API 6A gate valve parts with the same bore and pressure class interchangeable?
Not necessarily. Two API 6A gate valves with the same nominal bore and rated working pressure may use different gate profiles, seat dimensions, body pockets, stem connections, bonnet seals or operator interfaces.
Compatibility should be confirmed from the original valve model, minimum bore, manufacturing revision and critical component dimensions. This review is particularly important for master valves, wing valves, swab valves and hydraulic shutdown valves, where an incorrectly matched component can affect valve travel, sealing performance or field operation.
4. What valve sizes and pressure classes can the replacement parts support?
Replacement parts can support parent valves with nominal bore sizes from 1-13/16 inches to 7-1/16 inches and rated working pressures from 2,000 psi to 20,000 psi, subject to technical review.
The size and pressure class describe the parent valve rather than giving each loose component an independent pressure rating. The original valve drawing, verified minimum bore, material specification and service conditions remain the controlling references when selecting wellhead or Christmas tree valve spare parts.
5. Can SGPE supply complete API 6A gate valve repair kits?
Yes. SGPE can prepare valve-specific repair kits for routine maintenance, internal leakage, external stem leakage, operator repair, hydraulic actuator refurbishment and complete workshop overhaul.
A typical package may include soft seals, a matched gate-and-seat trim set, stem and bonnet components, manual operator parts or a hydraulic actuator rebuild kit. The contents follow the original bill of materials, an approved drawing or verified dimensions rather than a generic selection based only on valve size.
6. Should the gate and seat rings be replaced together?
In many repair situations, replacing the gate and seats as a matched set provides the more reliable result. These components work together as the main pressure-isolation system and must have compatible dimensions, hardness levels, sealing profiles and surface finishes.
If the existing seats show scoring, erosion, corrosion or uneven contact, a new gate may not seal correctly against them. The same problem can occur when new seats are installed around a worn gate. Matched gate-and-seat replacement sets are commonly considered during wellhead overhaul, flowback-valve repair and planned Christmas tree maintenance.
7. Can SGPE prepare commissioning, operating and shutdown spare packages?
Yes. Spare packages can be prepared for equipment installation, pressure testing, startup, routine operation, planned maintenance and long-term field stocking.
A commissioning package normally focuses on seals, packing, fittings and minor operator components that may be needed during installation or startup. Operating, two-year maintenance and shutdown packages can include trim sets, stems, bonnet seals, bearings and actuator parts selected according to the installed valve population and maintenance schedule.
For multiwell developments, the package can be organized by valve model, well number or installation position, such as master valve, wing valve, swab valve or hydraulic shutdown valve.
8. Can SGPE manufacture obsolete or brownfield gate valve parts?
SGPE can review replacement requirements for older wellheads and Christmas trees when standard components are no longer readily available. Authorized drawings, dimensional records, equipment photographs and original samples can support the identification and manufacturing review.
Typical brownfield requirements include obsolete gate-and-seat assemblies, non-standard valve stems, discontinued bonnet-seal profiles, custom retainer plates, legacy operator parts and older hydraulic actuator seals. Because a worn sample may no longer reflect the original geometry, adjoining interfaces and maintenance records should also be checked before production.
9. Can SGPE supply API 6A gate valve spare parts for sour service?
Yes, but a general request for “H₂S service” is not enough to select the correct material or seal compound. The technical review should consider H₂S partial pressure, total pressure, operating temperature, CO₂ content, fluid pH, chloride concentration and produced-water chemistry.
These conditions influence material hardness, heat treatment, seal selection, hardfacing and any required CRA or nickel-alloy protection. Sour-service wellhead valve parts should be selected against the specified NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 service conditions rather than from nominal valve size alone.
10. Can SGPE supply hydraulic actuator rebuild kits for API 6A gate valves?
Yes. Hydraulic actuator rebuild kits can be prepared for remote-operated and fail-safe gate valves used on wellheads, Christmas trees, surface test trees, flowheads and emergency shutdown systems.
Clients should provide the actuator model, cylinder bore, piston-rod diameter, stroke, hydraulic control pressure and fail-safe direction. Depending on the actuator design, the kit may contain piston seals, rod seals, wiper seals, guide rings, wear rings, O-rings, backup rings and position-indicator seals.
If the piston rod shows corrosion, scoring or coating damage, it should be inspected together with the rod seal because a damaged surface can quickly shorten the life of a new seal.
11. What inspection documents are available for gate valve replacement parts?
The document package depends on the type of component and the purchase-order requirements. Available records may include material test certificates, heat-treatment records, dimensional inspection reports, hardness results, thread inspection records, NDE reports, coating reports, visual inspection records and certificates of conformity.
Loose replacement parts normally receive inspection relevant to their material, dimensions, hardness, threads and surface treatment. Complete valve assemblies or refurbishment projects may also include functional and pressure testing under an agreed inspection procedure. Client or third-party inspection can be arranged when specified in the order.
12. What information is required to quote API 6A gate valve spare parts?
For an accurate quotation, clients should provide the valve manufacturer, model, series, serial number, nominal bore, minimum bore, rated working pressure and installation position. The required component, quantity, service fluid, operating temperature and any sour-service conditions should also be identified.
Clear photographs of the valve nameplate and removed component are particularly useful. Original drawings, dimensional sketches, part numbers, equipment records or a physical sample can help confirm the gate, seat, stem, bonnet seal, operator or actuator interface.
The inquiry should also state whether the parts are required for routine repair, workshop overhaul, planned shutdown, offshore stocking, emergency replacement or a long-term MRO spare package.
